The Ostin Clip

This is the clip seen above in the Your Choice effect. How is it different from Ostin's original clip? First for those that know the original, a lot of effort was needed to get a rubber band into position. In doing so the band was sometimes weakened. Mr. Riggs came up with a method of adding hooks on the inside that made adding or changing the band a matter of seconds not minutes. And the band is not hurt in anyway in loading it to the clip. Now what does it do? Well it holds, as can be seen in the picture at the right, a prediction or other billet which is a blank or dummy. After retrieving a real billet from, say an index and palming it, you come to the place you have the clip hanging. As your hand grips the clip to open it, the blank is pulled up into the inside of the clip. At the same time you show or drop the real palmed billet. With the cover of the 'taking' hand which has the palmed billet, the action is covered and seems to be what the audience thought they saw, but it isn't. It's clean switch.

A New Effect using the New Ostin Clip

Here is an effect to use with the New Ostin Clip. As seen to the right the clip is inside a large jar. It can be placed on display and the jar lid sealed. A committee may write their names on the out side of the jar and mark in anyway the lid so that they can be sure it is never opened until it is opened on the night of the show and in front of the committee. The six (6) committee people who signed the jar or six (6) new committee people are ask to come on stage. Note: I present it at the close of my act when I do this effect. The chart show below is a Dry Erase board that has been lined with tape ( the type use on these boards ) as shown in the illustration. The five (5) segments are listed as, an ESP symbol , a color, a playing card , a number & a state you are not in right now. Five of the committee are ask to choose, at random no force, these five items which are then listed for all the see. Number six (6) committee man is ask to make the final choice. One out of at the very least two hundred possible different selections! He does! He is them ask to go to the jar and unscrew the sealed lid. After he has to lift up the lid and the clip clear of the jar and to sit down the jar. He does. You now instruct him to hold his empty hand (the one he used to sit down the jar)  below and the clip. You squeeze the clip releasing the slip which falls into his waiting hand. He is ask to put the lid and clip aside and to open and read the slip. It has the exact item he himself just chose moments ago.

The Jaks Wallet

Really a business card case

This is the three (3) fold case that is called A JAKS WALLET.  It never was a true wallet. These are made for us by a leather worker that makes

ladies purses, belts and other accessories. That's all he does. They are made of genuine cowhide and stitched. They are soft and easy to use.

They come in Dark Brown, Light Brown and Black. The Light Brown and Black are made on request and are not stocked. Handling instructions are supplied for both one handed and two handed moves. As a bonus the handling of the Two Fold version (we hope to have them soon.) is included.

Having said that there is a Bonus at the end of my second DVD, Carlyle Close up and personal. For those that don't have that DVD

effect, The first is the Universal Mind design. The dashing lines in the top circle is for you to print you name saying, "This circle

represents My Mind. In a moment I will ask you to print your First Name in the lower circle. That will represent Your Mind.

Where they link is the Universal Mind. Any thought placed there will be transferred to My Mind!" The design is so designed that

no matter how clumsy you are in the fold and tear you WILL get both the "one word thought" and their name. By tearing off a sheet first and prefolding it as you talk, they can turn their

back or you can turn yours. You instruct as stated above that they PRINT only their First Name and ONE word that represents their question, such as "Love", Money, Trip etc.

You will get both. It has been with me, on my person, for most of my career in Mentalism. I have removed my pre-printed name, Carlyle, and replaced it with a dashing line for you to

use.

The next design is what we call A Phone Call From The Past or From The Dead as it may be used in several different themes. Have the spectator think of a friend from way back in their

Childhood (if they are old enough to have had a phone with that kind of a dial) Or to think of a person from the 30's or 40's when these phones were in common use. A dead celebrity or

a well known figure from that time. A movie star, a singer, a band leader etc. Use your imagination!

The last one I'll leave to those that do the unusual type if effects. Maybe the Occult style effects. At any event we thought there was a need and we aimed to fill that need!
