Mentalism and Magic writings by those that were great and well known and those
at the fringe and nowhere did I find a method that answered all my problems. The
problems that stopped me may be those that have stopped you, so read on. First I
have a bad memory. Therefore the "One-A-Head" or Washington Irving Bishop method
didn't work because after I read the next question (which was supposed to be the
last question) I forgot all the details like numbers I needed. Second I felt
uneasy messing with someone's life. If they ask a question about love advice or
money or quitting their job or anything that could really be important, I just
couldn't take it upon myself to give that advice. So lets not go there! In this
manuscript you will find all the answers to those and many other bits that may
have stopped you from adding this most impressive part of a mentalism act. And
have you ever wondered if the mind reader is so good why does he have to open
the envelope to make sure that the answer was correct and helpful. Well Karrell
Fox came up with the answer. Dr. Scott had a method to cover this but in his you
needed a pad. Here you don't. And the questions, what about them. Remember I
don't want to mess with lives. Right you don't! The biggest name in Mentalism in

Almost No gimmick? Yes almost, just handling and

really not that much handling. No there are no real slights and nothing to remember. So let’s see,

First let me say that I have never been able to understand why you need a

from my way of thinking, so here
we will use a whole paragraph and that will not be the only
thing you do. You set a stage for a kind of playacting where your on-stage
helper is told to see his self at home alone and reading a book. His family
is out and he is picking up where he left off in a book he was reading. He
is further told to make pictures of what he reads, as we all do when reading
a story. "It's those pictures I want to see", he is told. "So make them as
clear as you can so I can see them in my mind", you say. So you see it's
pictures not words that sets this test apart.
It's about as far from a classic book test you
can go and entertain your audience!

The can is used in the routine as a method of
getting the writer on in the quickest fashion. It has cotton
at the bottom of the can to hold the writer in position. It also keeps the
leads from breaking. When
closed it is used to store the writer.
The leads and the pen should out live or last

these made in the 'hay day' of mentalism. They are the same as shown in the book
by Tony Corinda, 13 Steps to Mentalism. They come two (2) to a box and have an
extra piece of lead. They are made of spring brass and painted flesh color.
I have not see writers
this good since Kirkendale stopped making writers, and of course he an Connie
Hayden have both gone on to their reward.

Mentalism you must have a reliable nail writer! I feel that these will fill the

The Scarab
by Norm VanTubergin
The "Scarab" is the best of the
"boon" style writers. It was invented by Ray Piatt. Mr. Piatt sold the rights
and the machinery to make the Scarab to Norm. Norm has held up the tradition if
making the best possible product. As seen in the photo, there several styles for
all occasions. Different leads, wax, stylus for impression writing etc. All the
writers except the Black Beauty are disposable. The Black Beauty's leads are
replaceable and comes with the machined extra leads. More leads are available
from Norm.
These writers are the "Cadillac"
of Boon style writers. The original 'boon' had, for some, a problem. That was
that it seemed to move on the tip of the thumb because of the flesh on most
peoples thumb tips. To counter this the Scarab is made to rest over the tip and
is concaved to fit, not on, but over and around the tip. Thus giving the user
much more control.

is the method developed by Carlyle for the Houdini Séance
he created at the Magic Castle © in Hollywood. He was, as
